Dear Bob:

Received your letter today and was very glad to hear from you again. Everything is fine here. Almost half my tour has gone by now. Each day closer to home.

I hope your idea about building a cabin with some land works out. I'd like to see it when I get home. But don't stop writing me once you get out there. It really sounds like you, out there in a small cabin, thinking, writing, enjoying life, in your own world. If you ever need companionship, not the female type, you know I'd love to be out there with you. Of course this is after I get out of here.

I haven't made Sp/4 yet. I've been put in for it the last 4 or 5 months in a row but nothings come of it yet. I don't really care for the promotion but the money I could use. Last payday I had $120.00 stolen from me. That put a hurt on me this month. I've put in my R&R form for the 1st of Oct. Australia, Hawaii and Taipai were my three choices in that order. By Oct. I should have enough money saved to go (deleted)

I had a large photo of you, taken out in the field. You were hiding behind a dike from a sniper. It's at my house now. If you want it write my parents a letter, they would be glad to hear from you, and they will read it. It's really a great shot of you. My parents address is (Concord, Calif.)

If you don't want it write them anyway if you feel like it. I haven't told them anything about what happened to you. But I have not mentioned your name in my letters since you left. So they probably know something is wrong. Tell them anything you want but let me know what you say to them so I don't get stuck saying the wrong thing. But give them a letter I know they'd love hearing from you. They will write back and I think you would like hearing from them also.

I would like very much to write to you in detail as to what happens to me and B 3/60. I have something to write about me that happened on July 21, 1968, will write in separate paper and envelope.

Please keep writing and I'll be writing my memos to you every day if possible. I'll start probably tonight, as for now I'm on profile and the troops are coming in right now and it would be hard to write with all the noise and etc...

Your friend
Dan
